I built My Tiny Budget because I was fed up with the options available for people who just want a simple way to track their money.
Mint shut down. YNAB costs $109 a year. Every other alternative either wants your bank login, your credit card number, or both. I did not think a person should have to pay a subscription fee or hand over their banking credentials just to see where their money was going each month.
So I built something different. A free budget tracker that you control, that never asks for your bank account, and that actually works on your phone without needing to download an app from a store.
My Tiny Budget lets you log your income and expenses, set monthly budget goals by category, track recurring bills, and see your spending broken down over time. It syncs across all your devices through a secure account so your budget is always with you.
There are also seven free financial calculators built in, covering debt payoff, savings goals, emergency funds, the 50/30/20 budget split, net worth, compound interest, and mortgage payments. Those are available to anyone, no account needed.
Every Sunday morning, registered users get a short email digest with a summary of their month so far: income, expenses, balance, and top spending categories. A quick way to stay informed without having to open the app.
My Tiny Budget is free because I think basic financial tools should be accessible to everyone, not just people who can afford a subscription. The site is supported by advertising through Google AdSense, which keeps the lights on without charging users anything.
There are no premium tiers, no features locked behind a paywall, and no plans to change that. The full app is free. It will stay free.
My Tiny Budget never connects to your bank account. You enter your own transactions manually, which means your financial data stays entirely within your control. We do not sell your data, share it with third parties, or use it for anything beyond operating the app.
The only data we collect is what you enter into the app and basic analytics to understand how the site is being used. See the privacy policy for the full details.
My Tiny Budget was built and is maintained by a single developer based in Southern California. It started as a personal side project and grew into something worth sharing with other people who were frustrated by the same things.
